After being absent for more than a year, a few dozen DDMBA sangha and members from New York and New Jersey areas gave Shifu a warm welcome upon his return on October 23, 2006. The plane touched down near midnight on this cold fall night at Newark Airport. As Shifu approached, coming closer and clearer in view, the group’s anticipation turned to joy, waving at him and his entourage, taking photos and raising the DDMBA banner to call his attention. Due to traffic and road repairs, Shifu and entourage finally arrived at the center at 1:00 a.m. followed by many who met him at the airport. Shifu admonished the followers to go home, jokingly saying that he wouldn’t give a lecture today.
After attending the first anniversary celebration in Taiwan Shifu headed to New York. He will attend two DDRC youth-related events: Young Leaders Peace Building Retreat October 25-28 and World Youth Leadership Summit October 29-31. He will also give lectures at the upcoming November Huatou retreat. This will be the most anticipated retreat for over a year involving Shifu’s participation. We regret that we will not be able to accommodate all who want to attend.
